Television !

One Factor That I think that is very Important for someone to visit or move to another country is the fact that they can or can't access the same television programs that he/she was used to, well here is the TV situation here, First of all there's cable tv, where you get most of the mayor networks of USA but with one difference, they are the LatinAmerican Version HBO-LA, FOX-LA ( LA stands for Latinamerica ) ABC feed at least where I live is the same as in USA as well as MSNBC
you you'll get NFL, NBL, and most of those ( not NHL, you kinda get that on ESPN ), and yes we have ESPN1 ESPN2, ESPN2 is some sort of combination of an LA ESPN with ESPN2 content, Of course you'll have CNN, CNN HEADLINE NEWS and other, now you get Nickelodeon, CartoonNetwork, FOX Kids ( with another name JexIT), and well, what I really REALLY hate is that on Cable we don't get NBC, so there's no leno or connan, there are some old connan broadcasts on MSNBC but that really annoys me.

We get some International Channels like RAI ( italy ), TV-5 ( France ), Deutchwelle ( germany ), and sometimes the national chinese TV, but I don't see that much ( I don't understand chinese )

Most Hotels here have Cable, so you won't miss a thing.

If you plan to live here, One thing be sure to get a TV that supports SAP ( secondary audio program ) cause most of the channels have 2 audio feeds the original in english that mostly is on the secondary audio channel, and the regular that is in spanish, so make sure you have that in mind when you get a TV.

Also you can use things like TIVO, but not the smart way, meaning that there is no service that sends out TIVO information so, you can use it as a simple TV recorder, but it won't learn your taste.

The TV standard is the Same as in USA or Canada, NTSC so if you come form europe most of your TV stuff won't work cause there you use PAL, instead of NTSC so beware of that. ( also here we use 110v not 220, take a note europe)

Cable costs about 15$/month is not all that bad, and if you really REALLY miss your old TV, you can always get satellite TV it's a lot more expensive and I really don't have that much information on it, but I kno for sure you can get it, you can ask DirectTv what can you get with them.

Now as you might see the "TV" situation here is not all that bad. so come down, knowing that you won't miss most of your
favorite must see shows.
